Steve: Whenever they address past predictions of Armageddon, they always spin it to blame the individual. You'll see phrases like, "Some brothers have had false expectations." They will NEVER admit they fucked up with 1975.

1969 "fact": You will never grow old in this present system of things
by Ding inawake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

Elders Ordered to Give Evidence in Sex Scandal Trial
by jw07 inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2365992/gordon-leighton-child-abuse-trial-orders-jehovahs-witness-leaders-evidence.html.
church elders refused to comment on a child abuse scandal because they had a 'duty to god' to keep the sex attacker's confession a secret, a court heard.. jehovah witness ministerial servant gordon leighton admitted sexually abusing a child when he was confronted with allegations before elders at his church, newcastle crown court heard.. but during the official police investigation the 53-year-old, who hit the headlines in the 1990s when his wife yvonne, 28, died after refusing a blood transfusion after childbirth on religious grounds, denied any illegal wrongdoing.. when detectives asked elders simon preyser, harry logan and david scott to make statements about the confession, all three refused and said what they had heard was confidential.. the elders knew about the admissions for three years, but refused to cooperate with the criminal investigation, the court heard.. .
the trio kept that stance when the case was brought before newcastle crown court.

Don't ever....ever...EVER forget these came from the FDS and Governing Body
by Terry inwe do well to bear in mind that among the drugs, serums, vaccines, surgical operations, etc., of the medical profession, there is nothing of value save an occasional surgical proceedure.
their so-called "science" grew out of egyptian black magic and has not lost its demonological character.... we shall be in a sad plight when we place the welfare of the race in their hands.
[1] 1. the golden age, aug. 5, 1931, p. 727.. the journal of the a. m. a. is the vilest sheet that passes the united states mail.... nothing new and useful in theraputics escapes its unqualified condemnation.

There's articles from the 60's I think that state getting an organ transplant can give you the personality of the donor.

That article mentions that what is essentially the factory complex has been sold. Did they sell off the Columbia Heights properties too?

JWs and E-Cigs
by TheClarinetist inthe other night, two of my jw coworkers were sitting out enjoying an e-cig with one of my other coworkers.
i knew from earlier that there was tobacco (well, nicotine) in it.
out of curiousity, i did some minor digging with my worldlytm coworkers and am pretty darn sure that these guys aren't doing anything else questionable... are active jws allowed to smoke e-cigs now, or did i just witness some extremely minor teenage rebellion?.

Definitely DF offense. As mentioned, nicotine patches or gum is 'bad' too.

Is dating a good reason to get baptized?
by free2Bme13 inthere was an 16 year-old-girl in our old hall who was convinced by an ms that she needed to get baptized in order to be a more eligible, desirable and qualified potential marriage mate.
i should also add that this brother was interested in her even though he was 15 years her senior.
it got me wondering how many others have done this.

by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

Yeah I have a hard time not bursting into laughter at the meetings when letters are read which are essentially the WT asking for more money. Fuck you guys. All this stuff was built and renovated with donations and free labor. Now you're flipping it for multiple times what you put into it.
And as others have said, I guess Armageddon isn't coming until at least 2017 :)

How do the Dubbies Handle No Soliciting Signs Now?
by laverite ini get too many callers in my neighborhood, and i need to invest in a no soliciting sign for the front door.
i do not appreciate uninvited callers, unless they are there to tell me there's an immediate need to evacuate.
i absolutely won't buy anything at the door.

So here's the deal, in the USA, Jehovah's Witnesses aren't soliciting. There's legal precedent to this. If you put up a No Soliciting sign, some might still go to your door, and I suppose legally they're ok.
On the other hand, put up a No Tresspassing sign. That covers your bases. If they went to your door, you could legally call police and have them arrested for tresspassing. I think the majority of Witnesses now heed those signs. As someone above mentioned, the Society's policy is that they're on their own.
There's a realllly old booklet that's pretty neat actually. It contains tons of info on legal rulings and rights JW's have. The idea is that if you were out in service and took shit from the cops or something you could show that to them. It's out of print now at least in the US since it's not a huge problem anymore.
